Eid al-Fitr in Turkey

Turkish President Erdogan, after a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers, announced a 9-day official holiday on the occasion of Eid al-Adha.
🗓 The official weekend will last from July 15 to July 23.
Eid al-Adha is celebrated in a big way in Turkey. celebrate in a big way. Many take vacations during long holidays, with trips to hotels, to the sea and, of course, to older relatives, where the whole family comes to reunite on this significant holiday for most Turks. For these reasons, contrasting phenomena can often be observed: on the one hand, absolutely empty deserted streets of residential areas with closed everyday shops, as if in a film about the apocalypse, on the other, crowded roads to the sea and beaches, intercity routes with hour-long traffic jams and places of popular attractions in cities.
If you are planning a trip during the Eid holiday, be sure to take into account these features of the “Turkish holidays”:
❗️All government and banking institutions will be closed on these dates. Do all the important things in advance.
❗️Only those on duty will be open in pharmacies. Store opening hours are changing; many will not be open during the first days of the holiday.
⚡️The occupancy of hotels in vacation spots will be high, and prices will be much higher.
❗️Air and bus tickets cost 2 times higher than the regular price and still can be sold out. Therefore, it is better to plan your trip in advance.
