Maltepe, Kartal and Pendik districts near the Sea of Marmara
We have already told you about many areas of the Asian part of Istanbul. Today we will tell you about three more, modern and very dynamically developing in recent decades. The districts of Maltepe, Kartal and Pendik are located near the Sea of Marmara, one after another in the order listed.
Maltepe
This area has a mix of modern and traditional atmospheres, with lively markets and shopping streets, as well as modern parks and museums. Many skyscrapers are being built here, there are large shopping centers such as Mall Maltepe Park and Ritam Istanbul, an excellent promenade along the Marmara Sea and the famous Baghdad shopping street.
Kartal
The area, with views of the Marmara Sea and green areas, due to its location on hilly terrain, including the Aidos hills, with a chic forest belt, and Dragos hill. Among the attractions here are the Armenian Church of Surb Nishan, the historical Kartal bazaar and its surroundings, the Kartal Mosque, Yakachyk Square, the city park and Soganlik Street.
Pendik
The young area, combining modern architectural landscapes, natural beauty and archaeological artifacts in the form of the remains of ancient Greek cities, is also quite active, industrial and commercial. Sabiha Gokcen Airport and a high-speed train station are located here.
