Each of the districts of the Asian part of Istanbul has its own unique charm and attracts different audiences: lovers of culture and history, and those who are looking for modern entertainment and recreational opportunities, and, of course, for permanent living of a calmer, measured life among the frantic pace and vibrant bustle the many faces of Istanbul. Today we will briefly describe the areas of the middle part of the Asian side of Istanbul, so that you have sufficient understanding for the correct choice of places to visit and permanent residence in the cultural and historical “capital” of Turkey.
The “Asian” districts of Istanbul, which do not have borders with the seas and the strait, are residential areas, each with its own life, except one. That's where we'll start.
Ataşehir
stands out, because this is not exactly a residential area, but rather a modern business center with skyscrapers and elite residential areas, expensive restaurants and boutiques, huge shopping centers, and many above-ground and underground parking lots. The area is designed for wealthy people with private transport, so here you will experience difficulties with public transport and constant smog from the emissions of an active traffic flow.
Among the historical attractions of the area, the mosque of Mimar Sinan, the famous architect of the Ottoman Empire, stands out. The area attracts youth and entrepreneurs due to its innovative spaces and modern infrastructure, including shopping centers and start-ups.
Cekmekoy
In addition to developed infrastructure, including good transport accessibility, the area has a real treasure - a green area. A special place is occupied by the Çekmeköy Forest Park with its large extent, giant trees and many birds and animals, which maintains a special atmosphere, ecology and level of oxygen-saturated clean air in the Çekmeköy district. The area is chosen by those who value the presence of park areas near their home and fresh, clean air. This is a quiet corner of Istanbul, which is ideal for families with children. The area is considered prestigious and real estate here is not cheap. The creative life in Chekmekoy is quite active, with many exhibitions and performances taking place.
Sancaktepe
located far from the active noisy city center, so there are practically no tourists here. This is a quiet residential area where just over 200 thousand people live.
Sultanbeyli is another residential area without anything noteworthy for a curious tourist. Mostly the working class lives here and the cost of housing is, accordingly, in the middle category. The area has a well-developed infrastructure, including many grocery stores and shopping centers.
Umraniye
a fairly crowded area of Istanbul, largely thanks to Çamlıca Hill, which offers a wonderful view of the city, and therefore both locals and tourists come here for a picnic and relaxation.
